How to: Fringe Boots Forever

And how a pair of Minnetonka high boots changed my life…

A pair of Minnetonka high boots, as worn by Kate Moss when these boots and Pete Doherty were her staple accessories, have changed my life…

How have I allowed such fringe boots to be so transformative?

As a sycophant for Kate Moss, especially a mid-2000s Boho Chic Moss, (for more read the article: How To Stray from Y2K https://www.tastelessblog.com/blog/it-sienna-miller-bobo-chic ), and I couldn’t help but note a suede pair of fringe boots being worn repeatedly on London pavements and at muddy festivals by Kate Moss.

Upon further research, I discovered the Minnetonka high boot, and nabbed a pair for £70 on Vestiaire,

Why should we viva Fringe Boots forever? Because fringe and tassels, alike the Balenciaga Metro Bag, add a non-conformist and bohemian touch to a rather stiff outfit- or lifestyle.

Since buying a pair, I have used my fringe boots aggressively. They’ve been worn on 12 hour gruelling work days in Paris during fashion week, done more anxious circuits of Regents Park than sane, and have had the likes of beer and ash hurled on them at events.

My Minnetonka high boots have been through such an ordeal that I now have to get them re-cobbled. But that shows how much I love them, even though they are so battered it looks like they’ve been at the Somme instead of Soho.

I wasn’t even quite sure that cobblers existed outside of a Brothers Grimm ‘The Elves and the Shoemaker’ context, but it’s a sure answer to overconsumption- it’s time to make cobblers chic again.

Pictured above is my own pair of high boots on display, pre-cobbling. Other infamous fringe boots include Isabel Marant fringe boots which originated at SS2010.

Below I’ve attached a list of fringe boots to take inspiration from or shop now…
